"As a preventative measure, Charlie Sheen has entered a rehabilitation facility," the former Spin City actor's representative has revealed.
The 44-year-old is facing domestic violence charges following a heated row with wife Brooke Mueller last Christmas Day.
While the reason for Charlie's treatment has not been revealed, a source close to the star insists it is not drug-related.
"Charlie is stressed. He's tired. He felt like he needed to get away from negative influences around him and clear his head, rest and take a short break," the source says.
Production of the actor's show, Two and a Half Men, "will be temporarily suspended," says a statement from CBS. "We wish him nothing but the best as he deals with this personal matter."
