Kerry Katona's bankruptcy status will remain

Despite her hopes to be officially "discharged" - ie. to be free of debt - this month, troubled Kerry Katona's bankruptcy status will not be lifted.

The news comes as the Insolvency Service won a legal bid to have the 28-year-old’s discharge “suspended indefinitely” - meaning it may take some time for her to reach solvency.

Although unwilling to discuss individual cases an Insolvency Service spokesperson says, “For a bankrupt to have their discharge suspended, something serious would have had to have been brought to our attention”.

The former Atomic Kitten was declared bankrupt last year after being unable to pay an £80,000 tax bill.

Kerry, who suffers from bipolar disorder, lost her £250,000-a-year contract as the face of supermarket chain Iceland last week.
