Girls Aloud plan temporary split to work on solo projects

Pop band Girls Aloud are going their separate ways next year to work on solo projects, but the British beauties have assured fans it's only a temporary arrangement.

Cheryl Cole and her five bandmates – who kicked off their UK tour in spectacular style at the weekend with gigs in Manchester, Sheffield and London – will take time out from the outfit before coming back together to record the first disc on their new three-record deal.
