Ed Miliband weds long-term love in intimate ceremony

Friday May 27, 2011

The Labour leader and his long-term partner Justine Thornton tied the knot in a low-key civil ceremony on Friday that was intimate and family focused.

In fact, only 50 guests - including the couple's two children - attended the wedding at Langar Hall Hotel in Nottinghamshire.

Ed Miliband wore a suit by top-end British brand Aquascutum, whilst Justine wore Alice Temperley.

In the morning the groom took time out from preparing to walk up the aisle to thank the well-wishers on Twitter.

"Thanks for all the good wishes," he wrote. "Really looking forward to the day. Feel like the luckiest guy in the world to be marrying Justine."

As the first leader of a major political party to live with his family out of wedlock, Ed had faced criticism about his unmarried status but insisted he would not be forced into it.

"We'll get married because we want to get married and love each other very much, no other reason," he told one interviewer.
