It couldn't have been a more different mode of transport than the starship Enterprise.
But Star Trek legend William Shatner looked perfectly at home as he took the reins of a horse and cart at the opening ceremony of this year's World Equestrian Games.
Dapper in a grey suit and Panama hat, the 79-year-old drove his charge around the ring in the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, to huge cheers from the audience.
William - who lives on a on a 360-acre horse farm near Versailles, Kentucky - is something of an enthusiast.
In his spare time the Boston Legal actor breeds and shows American Saddlebreds and Quarter Horses.
