Maggie Gyllenhaal is expecting her second child.

The Dark Knight star already has a five-year-old daughter, Ramona, with her husband Peter Sarsgaard.

Maggie's representative confirmed to People the 34-year-old actress' happy news.

The Hysteria star and Green Lantern actor Peter, 40, married in Italy in 2009.

Maggie has admitted in the past that being a parent isn't easy.

"I've spent all my time learning how to be a mother and make a home with a child. When Ramona [was first born], I didn't know what I was doing.

"I just didn't have a clue. There's no way to prepare for the challenges, the immense joys, the surprises, the disappointments and the shocks. Your heart just rips open. It's amazing."
