Bond composer with the golden touch, John Barry dies

Five-time Oscar winner and composer John Barry has died at the age of 77.

Anyone who ever watched a Bond film will be familiar with his work.

He penned the score for 11 of the movies including Goldfinger and You Only Live Twice.

Fellow Bond composer David Arnold told the BBC: "I think James Bond would have been far less cool without John Barry holding his hand."

His work earned him a BAFTA fellowship and an OBE for his services to music.

The Academy Award wins were for Born Free, Midnight Cowboy, The Lion in Winter, Dances with Wolves and Out of Africa.
