While she may have come away from Oscar night empty handed, Kate Winslet ended up on top in hellomagazine.com's Most Glamorous Gown poll, thanks to the Greek goddess-inspired frock she wore to the prize-giving ceremony.

The curvaceous Finding Neverland star garnered 20.3 per cent of the vote with her figure-hugging, cornflower blue jewel-encrusted Badgley Mischka creation, just edging out the elegant Cate Blanchett.

After a strong start, Cate only narrowly lost out in the voting. The best supporting actress winner went with a scene-stealing lemon silk Valentino number with burgundy sash and this year's most striking red carpet feature - a fishtail. The look was obviously a hit with our readers, as the The Aviator actress took home 16.2 per cent of the votes.

Meanwhile, Hilary Swank's high-at-the-front, totally-exposed-at-the-back design by Guy Laroche placed her well up in the ranking, with a third place finish on 15.5 percent.

Here is how all nine candidates fared according to your votes in this year's Academy Awards Most Glamorous Gown poll.

Kate Winslet - 20.3 per cent
Cate Blanchett - 16.2 per cent
Hilary Swank - 15.5 per cent
Charlize Theron - 15.2 per cent
Halle Berry - 13 per cent
Penelope Cruz - 8.9 per cent
Catalina Sandino - 5.1 per cent
Renee Zellweger - 4 per cent
Melanie Griffith - 1.8 per cent
