Gentlemen prefer blondes – and so do Renee Zellweger fans, it seems.

She's gone from flaxen-haired to brunette – and most recently became a redhead – but in a new hellomagazine.com poll, our readers overwhelmingly say that blonde is the best hair colour for the Bridget Jones's Diary star.

More than 72 per cent of those who voted think Renee should stick to the shade that made her famous, with 15 per cent liking her flame-haired look and 12 per cent opting for brunette.

Our readers apparently think Renee's makeover isn't quite as becoming as some other A-list beauties who have shown their darker sides recently. It was Legally Blonde actress Reese Witherspoon who came out on top when we asked who made the best blonde-brunette switch in our 2004 End Of The Year Poll.

The pretty mother-of-two beat some stiff competition from Charlize Theron, Jodie Kidd, Britney Spears and of course, Chicago star Renee.
