While Kate Moss has reached the dizzy heights of her profession, she has also experienced many of the problems often associated with it, including drug and alcohol involvement. But now, after some time out from the catwalk, the supermodel is moving into a new phase in her life with the realisation of her long-expressed desire to have a baby.
Twenty-eight-year-old Kate, in a relationship with Jefferson Hack, couldn’t hide her happiness when she revealed in March 2002: “It’s true. I am pregnant. The baby is due in October and I couldn’t be more delighted.”
The style icon immediately became one of the world’s most fashionable mums-to-be, and continued to make headlines with her active social life during her pregnancy. But behind the scenes, Kate, who reportedly quit her pack-a-day smoking habit, was feathering her nest like any mother. She spent £150,000 refurbishing her home in Belsize Park, North London, in preparation for the new arrival.
