In 1999, supermodel Helena Christensen said goodbye to the catwalk and headed back to her native Copenhagen in order to devote her life to photography and, more importantly, her newborn son Mingus – named after the legendary jazz musician Charlie Mingus. While Helena’s parents and sister live nearby, the runway queen and her boyfriend, American actor Norman Reedus, definitely have their hands full. Eschewing the popular retinue of nannies favoured by fellow celebrities, the two have decided to go it alone. “It’s the hardest and most beautiful job,” says Helena of motherhood. “I keep looking at Mingus singing to himself in the living room. I can’t believe this little man I made is in there living his life.” |
