The coolest celebrity bridal trend, however, has nothing to do with a sought-after designer, red-hot location or hard-to-find accessories. What every A-lister seems to want is a top secret ceremony – a wedding so exclusive that hardly anyone's invited.

In 2003, a pregnant Gwyneth Paltrow quietly wed her beau, singer Chris Martin, in a ten-minute ceremony attended by only the bride and groom. And at Kate Winslet's West Indies wedding to director Sam Mendes last May, the two swapped vows in front of just four people, including the bride's two-year-old daughter Mia.

Pop diva Britney Spears was less selective in the choice of guests for her impromptu Las Vegas wedding to childhood sweetheart Jason Alexander – she was given away by the limo driver.

Liv Tyler had the best of both worlds when she secretly wed Royston Langdon in Barbados last spring. Though the bride's parents Bebe Buell and Steven Tyler weren't able to make it, the two – along with pals David Bowie, Stella McCartney and Kate Hudson – made it to the second round of higher-profile vows, held later in New York.
