Her first duet with former husband Maurice Gibb in over 25 years and a surprise appearance by Frank Skinner in drag were just two of the highlights of An Audience With Lulu, in which a glittering array of celebrities turned out to pay tribute to the
diminutive Scottish star as she celebrated almost 40 years in showbusiness.
Belying her 53 years and looking dazzling in a fitted orange shirt and stripy Dolce & Gabbana jeans, Lulu took to the stage in front of friends including Gordon Ramsay, Twiggy, Claire Goose, Barbara Windsor and Cheryl Barrymore for the show, which is being broadcast on ITV1 at 9pm on May 18.
The singer, who was first discovered in a club in her native Glasgow when she was just 15, told the audience that she learned to love music from her father. “He used to sing to me and I’ve got vivid memories of me putting my ear close to his mouth and the sound
reverberating through me. That where my passion for music started. And I haven't shut up since.”
