When Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay found himself suffering a creative block, there was only one thing for it - the exuberant musician jumped into one of his vintage Bentleys and headed straight for central London and a dose of serious retail therapy.
But the 34-year-old was faced with another problem when he reached his destination, because he couldn't decide what to buy. The car-mad singer was trying to decide between a Bentley GT Coupe – a snip at £110,000 – or the slightly more extravagant Rolls Royce Phantom, which had a price tag of £250,000.
After giving the dilemma due consideration, the millionaire musician decided he would have to take both. "I had to get out of the studio so I went out shopping to cheer myself up," he said. "It's something to do, isn't it?"
Jay Kay is well-known for his love of cars and his latest acquisitions bring his personal collection to 21. But despite their enormous cost, his most expensive runabout remains a limited edition Ferrari Enzo, which set him back a staggering £425,000. Given that the chart-topping performer has an estimated worth of £16 million, there's little doubt he can afford a garage big enough to house them all.
