Chanel maestro Karl Lagerfeld has praised the Duchess of Cambridge for her high street fashion choices.
Speaking at a dinner before the opening of his Little Black Jacket Exhibition, 79-year-old Karl described Kate as "beautiful" and added that he feels it's "right that she favours high street fashion in these recession-hit-times."

"She shouldn't be a red carpet girl" said Karl, "she's perfect."
Kate has been praised for favouring some of Britain's best-loved high street brands such as Whistles, Reiss and LK Bennett, despite having access to the world's leading designer labels.
Clothes worn by the 30-year-old Duchess, who has been hailed as fashion ambassador for the UK, are accessible and affordable so much so that they often sell-out instantly.
Karl's exclusive dinner was held as Robin Birley's restaurant, 5 Hertford Street to celebrate the opening of the exhibition which welcomed such celebrity guests as Poppy Delevigne, Keira Knightley and Eva Herzigova.
