Hollywood star Nicole Kidman likes to keep her family life private but always makes time to share a sweet tribute to her adoring husband, Keith Urban, on social media. 

Whilst the Big Little Lies star was famously married to fellow actor Tom Cruise, it's safe to say the country singer truly has won the heart of the actress and their 18-year relationship continues to go from strength to strength.

When did Nicole and Keith meet?

Despite both stars being Australian, the future husband-and-wife duo didn't meet Down Under, in fact, it wasn't until June 2005 that they finally crossed paths at the G'Day USA gala in Los Angeles, an event which honours Australians in the entertainment business.

During the exciting occasion, the two stars exchanged numbers, but Keith didn't call the Hollywood actress for four months. Making the confession on the Ellen DeGeneres show, Nicole explained: "I remember thinking I had such a crush on him and he wasn't interested in me. It's true! "He didn't call me for four months."

Keith later addressed the reason he waited so long to contact his future wife on the Australian talk show, Interview in 2018. He explained: "Somebody had given me her number and I had it in my pocket for a while. I kept looking at it thinking, 'If I call this number, she's going to answer. I don’t know what [to] say." Adding: "I wasn't in a very healthy place in my life."

When did Nicole and Keith start dating?

After Keith finally called Nicole in October 2005, things changed forever. Keith said: "I'd never have thought she'd see anything in a guy like me. But, at some point, I plucked up the courage to call those numbers and she answered, and we started talking and we talked and talked and talked and talked and it was effortless."

When did Nicole and Keith get married?

The couple enjoyed a whirlwind romance and tied the knot in June 2006, a year after they first met. Their nuptials took place in their homeland at Cardinal Cerretti Memorial Chapel. Nicole was every inch the perfect bride and wore the most gorgeous Balenciaga gown.

Their celebrations were short lived, however, as Keith soon entered rehab at the Betty Ford Centre shortly after walking down the aisle. Nicole staged the intervention for her new husband who had been battling with substance abuse for years.

The couple celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary in June last year. Adoring husband Keith revealed his marriage and sobriety are what he considers to be his "biggest achievement" after being asked on Living & Learning with Reba McEntire in 2021.

He said: "There's a lot of things. Marrying the right person, massive," adding: "Marrying for the right reasons, getting sober 15 years ago, a big turning point in my life."

Do Nicole and Keith have children?

The Hollywood stars share two children, Sunday Rose, 13, and Faith Margaret, ten. Nicole also has two children from her previous relationship with Tom Cruise, Connor and Isabella.

Whilst Isabella and Connor's upbringings saw them attend a number of high-profile events with their famous parents, Sunday and Faith are rarely seen in public. Although they have  landed a number of roles as extras over the years while hanging out on set with their mom.

These have included Big Little Lies and The Undoing. Talking to News.com.au, proud mum Nicole opened up about her children having roles on The Undoing.

She said: "They're used to being extras, but they did five days in the freezing New York cold, never complained, and didn't get any special treatment. "And then one day they came home and said, 'We got a line!'"
