Queen Consort Camilla and King Charles are celebrating 18 years of marriage this week, but did you know the duo shares a passion that bonds them together?
During an engagement last week in Germany, Queen Consort Camilla revealed to a group of schoolchildren that her favourite hobbies are gardening, reading and swimming in the sea.
King Charles is famed for his love of gardening, but swimming in the sea is another passion held by the monarch, with many photographs showing a young Prince Charles frolicking in the waves.
Photos also show Camilla on holiday in recent years, taking dips in the ocean, proving that while she feels she's too old for horse riding now, her passion for sea swimming lives on.
Given that Camilla's personal property, Ray Mill House, is in land-locked Wiltshire, and Charles resided in nearby Gloucestershire for much of his adult life, it comes as no surprise that they both had swimming pools built at their homes, to help them swim outside when there was no sea nearby.
That said, while Highgrove House has a pool it, was reported by Gloucestershire Live that King Charles was wary of being seen by the public taking a dip in the exposed area of his garden, so rarely took to the water.
The majority of Camilla and Charles' sea swims appear to take place in the summer, so while they're unlikely to be seeing the benefits of cold water therapy from the sea, swimming of any kind is beneficial.
Swimming is notoriously good for soothing anxiety, as it encourages mindfulness, making it a helpful pursuit when the role of head of state gets too much for the King.
King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla aren't the only royal couple who bonded over a unique hobby. Reports say that King Charles' youngest brother Prince Edward and his wife, Duchess Sophie, were brought together by a mutual passion for the ancient sport of real tennis.
