BBC's Sophie Raworth has some seriously enviable style, from her smart newsreader attire to her more casual, hanging with friends dresses. And I spotted that she clearly got the memo when it comes to dressing cool in this heat - a chuck on dress in linen or cotton is the only answer.
Kicking it with friends at the recent Isle of Wight festival, 58-year-old Sophie was snapped wearing a gorgeous bubblegum pink midi dress that yes, screamed summer thanks to the colour, but was so much more than that.
Sophie's dress was loose, tiered and floaty, offering comfort and cool thanks to its floaty silhouette and heatproof fabric.
- Sophie Raworth was snapped at the recent Isle of Wight festival.
- The BBC broadcaster wore a cooling pink floaty dress, perfect for the heatwave.
- We found some amazing lookalikes, including a linen version, mini and smart midi.
Made from a cotton mix, the dobby-fabric would have kept the presenter comfortably cool, while the notched neckline and capped sleeves protected her from the sun, acting as a handy cover-up too.
And who doesn't love the addition of a slight puffed sleeve, which helps to balance out a larger bust. The tummy-flattering dress also featured a tiered skirt and empire line at the bust, adding to the flattering feel.
In fact, the slightly nipped in empire line helps to stop the dress from being shapeless and instead, gives it a gentle silhouette without being tight or clingy; perfect for this hot weather.
I'd keep this dress for those casual summer events, wearing with sandals or flip flops to keep things cool. Like Sophie, you can throw on a khaki jacket or denim jacket for the evening, or layer a sweatshirt over the top.
Crucially, what makes this dress brilliant is the lack of buttons, fastenings or fiddly details; it is, quite literally, a chuck on and go dress. And when it's as hot as it is in the UK right now, it's the sort of dress that takes the stress and time out of knowing what to wear; it's a one and done piece. When you don't know what to wear, wear this.
Unfortunately, Sophie hasn't identified the dress but we've found some incredible lookalikes from the high street. As with Sophie's, they're all pink, loose and fussfree while still being stylish.
One of the easiest to wear is the Seasalt Cornwall Linen Dress, made from 100% linen and has a sweet collared neckline as a point of difference.
Head to Roman Clothing and you'll find this mini version, with the addition of broderie anglaise detailing.
Aspiga's version has a subtle hand embroidered floral motif, and is made from gorgeously breathable organic cotton gauze. It also comes in blue, and has a flattering shirred waist.
Or for a super smart yet easy to wear heat proof dress, we found the Harriet Dress at Hobbs. Reduced in the brand's summer sale to £119, it features a similar neckline and puffed sleeves, like Sophie's, but has lace and cutwork detailing to smarten things up.
Add a heel, a sandal, a flip flop or a trainer - this dress can take it all.
