Author JoJo Moyes has confirmed that she is currently writing a third book about the life of Lou Clarke, the plucky protagonist who caught readers' hearts in the bestselling novel, Me Before You. The author, who sold more than 12 million copies of the novel, has announced plans to continue the adventures of Lou in New York where she will "find herself torn between her old life and her new".
Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin played the lead roles in the film adaptation
Me Before You achieved incredible success and topped the New York Times bestseller list following the release of the film adaptation, which starred Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin. The story follows Lou, who takes a job caring for a quadriplegic despite having no experience. Upon meeting Will, who was once a successful businessman before a tragic accident, the pair love deeply in love until Will decides to commit suicide. In the second instalment, After You, Lou attempts to cope with the devastating loss.
Chatting about her new novel to Stylist, JoJo said: "I always knew that once I committed to write the sequel to Me Before You I would also write a third book; I saw it quite clearly as a trilogy. Revisiting Lou has been a joy, as I push her into a completely new country, a brand new world, and a house full of secrets. With her usual blend of humour and emotion she has to ask herself some pretty fundamental questions - not least which side of the Atlantic does she really belong? I hope readers enjoy this new adventure as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it." Fans might have a while to wait though, as the initial release date is for spring 2018.
