Geri Halliwell: 'Robbie Williams saved my life'

Friday March 26, 2010

His recent comeback has seen pop star Robbie Williams win numerous plaudits.

But there's one famous face in particular who couldn't be more appreciative of the Angels singer for advice she received over a decade ago.

Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell has revealed how Robbie rescued her from an eating disorder when they were both at the height of fame in the late Nineties.

Thirty-seven-year-old Geri says the former Take That star convinced her to visit a US clinic for treatment of bulimia.

"Robbie knew about my bulimia and he advised me to get help. He told me to go into rehab and that possibly saved my life," Geri says during a televised interview with Piers Morgan.

"The bulimia would have got worse without it. I will always be grateful to him, always.

"I became really close to Robbie after leaving the Spice Girls and it was a very poignant friendship.

"I was lonely and felt he was the only person on the planet who could understand me because of his experiences with Take That. We understood each other.

"I am happy and healthy now," adds Geri, whose interview will hit screens on April 3.
