The Queen of the Jungle is... Jill Scott

Lioness Jill Scott was announced as 2022's Queen of the Jungle. The footballer was in disbelief, telling Ant and Dec: "I can't believe it."

Speaking about her campmates, she said: "These guys were absolutely incredible, we were one big team. I don't think there should be one winner, we are all winners of I'm A Celebrity."

Before being crowned this year's champion, Jill compared the jungle to winning the Euros earlier this year, telling the hosts: "There's been so many elements, like working together as a team and winning challenges and that feeling of getting to know incredible people like Owen."

The 35-year-old also said that keeping spirits up in camp was something she learned from her football career. "I have never been one of the best footballers so I had to offer something, so I was always trying to keep team morale [up] and I think in that first trial, I was so scared of heights but seeing that one of my campmates needed me to get there to release them, it was a mindset of you've got to go and help. That was definitely a sports mindset."

In second place is... Owen Warner

Hollyoaks star Owen Warner was announced as the runner-up. "I am so gassed for Jill. No one deserves it more than Jill," the actor said.

Before the winner was announced, Owen spoke about what he learned in camp. "When you're at a really low point in life, you learn what you're made of and in there I was really struggling," he explained. "There were a lot of big characters and I'm only 23.

"I feel like I'm very much at the beginning of my journey, people have had a crazy journey and done so much stuff. I was comparing myself and I thought I can't compare myself. Realising that has helped me to mature and be comfortable with myself."

In third place is... Matt Hancock

Chatting to Ant and Dec in his post-exit interview, he explained his reasons for signing up for the show. "I just wanted to show what I'm like as a person," he said. "Lots of people come to me with preconceived ideas for obvious reasons and I just wanted to be myself, but I also strongly believe that for politicians as a whole. We don't come across as human enough and this is perhaps the most extreme way of showing who you are."

"People think they know me but actually, they don't," he added.

Matt admitted that he was expecting to be grilled by his fellow campmates, adding that some "grillings" were "enjoyable" and others were "really emotional".

So, what exactly happened in the final?

The remaining three celebs took on their final challenges for a chance to win a three-course meal, drink and treat of their choice. Keep scrolling to see how they got on...

Matt tackled Flood Your Face

The MP had to place his head in a clear glass tank which slowly filled up with water, as well as various underwater creatures including eels and yabbies. Using a snorkel to breathe, Matt had to stay in place for five minutes, winning one star per minute.

Luckily, Matt managed to stay with his head underwater for the full time, meaning all three celebs won their three-course meal!

All three celebrities successfully completed their final trials

Owen faced Bushtucker Bonanza

Owen took on an eating trial for his final challenge, and had to scoff down five disgusting dishes in order to win his three courses, a drink of his choice and a treat.

The actor was hardly phased by the nauseating meals on offer and even said the fermented duck egg was "decent" and that he'd have it again!

He wasn't lying when he said he was hungry, was he?

He also chowed down on a camel's testicle and the camel's eye, admitting it "wasn't as good".

Jill took on Rat Race

For her final ever trial and the chance to win a three-course meal of her choosing, Jill had to lie in a large glass box surrounded by rats. The footballer was challenged with releasing stars from a thread using only her tongue.

Despite the fact that she has a fear of rats, Jill still managed to successfully complete the trial, helped along with words of encouragement from her fellow finalists, Matt and Owen.

Jill Scott

Footballer Jill Scott has been a fan favourite from the moment she walked into camp. While she was best known for her incredible sporting skills before heading into the jungle, she has shown that she's got the personality to match.

From sharing heartfelt words of encouragement to rapping Mysterious Girl by Peter Andre and attempting to impersonate Michael McIntyre, the Sunderland-born star has been a constant source of entertainment for viewers since day one.

Matt Hancock

Possibly one of the show's most controversial signings, Matt Hancock shocked both his campmates and the viewers at home when he made his jungle debut. Perhaps predictably, the MP was voted for the first five Bushtucker trials by the public and managed to successfully complete them all.

There have been some cringeworthy moments, of course, since Matt has been in camp. Viewers will remember when the politician gave a rendition of Ed Sheeran's romantic ballad, Perfect, upon his entry to Mole HQ. And who could forget when Matt busted some dance moves in the camp while being taught the electric slide by fellow contestant Scarlette Douglas?

As for his reasons for entering the camp, Matt told fellow campmate Charlene White early on in the series: "The honest truth is, because there's so few ways in which politicians can show that we're human beings. So I just thought it would be good to see that, and I've kind of got a sense of adventure."

Owen Warner

While he may have started out as one of the lesser-known campmates in this year's series, Hollyoaks star Owen Warner has proved that you don't need to be a big name to win over the public.

The actor has provided many funny moments during his three weeks in camp, including when he asked his fellow contestants if they'd ever noticed "that fingers are just like arms on the end of your arm?", or when he asked Mike Tindall if his wife, Zara, was Australian after the rugby player revealed the couple had met in Sydney in 2003.

He has also been a firm favourite among fans of the show, who have praised him for having a "heart of gold".
