Prince William meets Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott

Prince William met with the Australian Prime Minister on Thursday.The Duke appeared at Admiralty House in Sydney to talk with Tony Abbott MP without his wife the Duchess of Cambridge, nee Kate Middleton. It’s not the first time they have met the politician as he and spouse Margaret Aitken awaited the royal family’s arrival at the city airport just the day before.

The couple are on a three-week tour of Australia and New Zealand, the first official trip overseas with their son, Prince George of Cambridge. Abbott gave William details of how great the spirit of the Rural Fire Service is and his work with the volunteer brigade during the meeting.They chatted in the drawing room of the building which is the official residence of the Governor-General by the habour. Abbott tweeted about his one-on-one experience with the prince.

“Great to meet with the Duke of Cambridge today - Looking forward to other events with the visiting Royals over Easter,” he posted on the micro-blogging website.

It came after William had visited Winmalee in the Blue Mountains that morning, despite a security risk. When asked if he had enjoyed his visit to the Blue Mountains William told the PM: "A very good day, thank you. There were some incredible stories."

Abbott added: "It's amazing how quickly the bush recovers and there's still businesses, attractions."

Mr Abbott told William that local residents were concerned about losing out on tourism because potential visitors thought the Blue Mountains was still devastated by fire. However he made clear that the rural area has sprung back and was safe for tourism.
