Lisa Snowdon is one of the most stylish women on British TV, and she has a special talent of embracing a trend and making it wearable - case in point? Her latest outfit, a polka dot strapless dress.
Many of us might shy away from wearing a strapless dress, especially over 40, but Lisa's effortless way of wearing one is giving us all the best masterclass in how to make one work for you.
- Lisa Snowdon appeared on a fashion segment on This Morning, Thursday July 9.
- The 54-year-old wore a chic strapless polka dot dress.
- Lisa's dress is on sale at Nobody's Child, reduced from £110 to just £88.
Reporting live from London's Oxford Street for a fashion segment on Thursday's This Morning, Lisa looked stunning in the Nobody's Child Alice Bandeau Midi Dress. A strapless dress is normally reserved for eveningwear or a holiday dress, but honestly Lisa's giving the best reason to wear one, whatever the time of day.
The 54-year-old chose perhaps the perfect strapless dress to try the trickier fashion look. The monochrome polka dot dress is super flattering, with contrasting white and black polka dots. With its white top, the dress nips in gently at the waist to reveal a fuller skirt. The black background is instantly slimming, drawing the eye downward. It's great if you have an hourglass figure, as it balances out proportions.
This dress is handy for those with a larger bust too, as the shirred back offers support without being too restrictive, and there's a soft line of grip along the neckline for added hold.
Did we mention it also has pockets?!
If you'd had doubts about wearing a strapless dress, sometimes called a bandeau dress, Lisa's your best example of how to make it work.
She kept her hair loose and wavy, her makeup glowing and let the dress take the spotlight. The relaxed fit of Lisa's lends itself to a number of occasions, spanning formal to casual.
If you still need convincing, take advice from award-winning stylist Susie Hasler. "Bandeau dresses can be incredibly flattering - it’s all about how you style them and finding the right cut for your body," she told HELLO!
"They offer a clean neckline that really opens up the shoulders and can elongate the neck beautifully. For women over 40, they’re a chic choice that can look timeless with the right fit."
Lisa's exact dress is currently reduced by 20% at Nobody's Child, down to £88, but I also found it on sale at Frasers reduced to £78; both have plenty of sizes available, from 8 - 18.
Reading the reviews, you can see why Lisa chose this dress - they're overwhelmingly positive. "Loved the comfort and fit of this dress and the Pockets were brilliant. Fits true to size and the fabric was gorgeous," one shopper wrote.
"Beautiful dress so well made and ruching so flattering if you have a bit of a jelly belly," another commented. Others agreed that the fit is true to size, and well made, with it being a comfortable fit.

Lisa's dress currently has 20% off, but if the £88 price tag is still a little out of your budget, fear not - polka dot dresses really are everywhere right now, including strapless versions a la Lisa.
New Look's is a white with black polka dot midi, with similar ruching to Lisa's and falls to a midi hem.
Next has a chocolate polka dot strapless dress, £44, with similar boning on the bodice to add semi-structure to the midi.
