There's no denying that Princess Kate has a penchant for a polka dot dress. In fact, I'd go as far to say I've seen her in the dotty print more than we have that other classic of designs, florals.
The 44-year-old royal has stepped out in some seriously chic polka dot dresses over the years, from designer Alessandra Rich pieces to premium high street labels, but if you want to get her look for less, Marks & Spencer is a good first port of call as they drop some stunning polka dot dress styles every single season.
- We spotted that this stunning M&S dress (shop here in US) is selling fast.
- The polka dot midi is reminiscent of styles worn by the Princess of Wales, who is frequently seen wearing the print
- It's made from cotton, perfect for summer months and to see you into autumn.
One of their bestselling pieces at the moment is a cotton polka dot dress, that I think Kate would love. The sleeveless style comes in both white with black polka dots, and has a shirred bodice falling to a relaxed skirt. It is so flattering - and wallet-friendly too.
The easy-to-wear piece features a scoop neckline, frill detailing at the bodice and a midi length, which finishes with a sweet ruffle on the hem. It's available in UK sizes 6-24 and three different lengths, petite, regular and tall. It's selling fast, and named on the M&S website as a 'popular' item which means fellow shoppers are eyeing this up too.
It comes in a chic white, which is ideal for summer but come autumn, can be layered under a black or grey knit to ease you into the chillier months. Or like Kate has done, wear a white trophy jacket over the top, creating a more formal outfit like Kate did at a garden party at Buckingham Palace in May.
The dress has some incredible customer reviews, raving about it's comfort, style and how well it washes - well, we do need to think practically as well as stylishly.
"Cool dress just right for the hot weather. Dress washes well stays looking fresh & crisp all day," wrote one.
While another said: "It's lovely! Looks expensive, perfect for my holiday and very comfortable."
Another added: "I bought this dress for holidays and to wear on sunny days at home. Gorgeous fit and so comfy. Got a lot of compliments wearing it!"
I love how M&S kept the styling of the dress on the smart casual side, adding a pair of flat Mary Jane shoes, a clutch bag in contrasting red and a pair of gold hoops. You could easily swap the flats for heels, dressing it up for any summer occasion or for your holiday, wearing chunky Dad sandals or elegant, minimal leather sliders.
It definitely has a touch of the Kate Middleton about it, as the white polka dot Alessandra Rich dress she wore to Royal Ascot in 2022 has quickly become one of her most iconic looks.
The wife of Prince William also wore white polka dot dresses to the opening game of Wimbledon 2017 and while pregnant with Prince George back in 2013. She likes more colourful pieces too, stepping out in blue polka dots for D Day in 2019 and twice at Wimbledon in 2022.
