Ex-King Constantine of Greece undergoes heart surgery

Ex-King Constantine of Greece was admitted to a private London hospital for heart surgery on Wednesday. The operation, which was scheduled earlier this month, is to unblock an artery and replace one of the valves of his heart.

Although both procedures are fairly common, they are not without risks. So the deposed monarch is likely to spend a few days recovering post surgery in Wellington Hospital's respected intensive care unit.

London-based royal Constantine has five children, including his heir Prince Pavlos, with his Danish princess wife Anne-Marie, the sister of Denmark's Queen Margrethe.

Since going into exile from Greece in 1973 the 68–year-old has become known for his role as an honorary member of the International Olympic Committee
