Snapped holding hands with football boss John Madejski – one of Britain's wealthiest bachelors – entertainer Cilla Black has opened up for the first time about her budding romance.
The 61-year-old TV star told the Daily Mirror that she is "very fond" of Reading manager John, a father-of-two and the UK's 186th richest man, but their relationship is still in the early stages.
"I'm not in love with John Madejski, but I'd love to get to know him better," said Cilla, who has been single since losing her beloved husband of 30 years, Bobby, to cancer in 1999. The Living TV presenter said the pair had only stepped out four times so far, and two of those meetings were at football matches. "So," she joked, "they were hardly the most romantic dates."
Though she was spotted dancing the night away with John at an exclusive London nightspot, she insists she's just enjoying her "single status". "I have other male friends," she admits. "In fact, one of them called me up on Sunday and said, 'Are you two-timing me?'. I said, 'I didn't know I was one-timing you'."
In the meantime, Cilla promised she wouldn't keep fans in the dark about her love life. "I'll be very up front about it," she says. "If I do fall in love again, I will be shouting it from the rooftops." |
