Top-selling boy band Westlife have signed a lucrative £500,000 contract with designer Calvin Klein. The lads will feature in magazine and billboard adverts across Europe scantily clad in next year’s spring/summer underwear collection.

Eager Westlife fans have been known to toss CK underwear on stage so much so that “none of us ever have to buy it ourselves”, jokes tour manager Anto Byrne. Now it seems they’ll be getting even more free merchandise.

“Both brands, Westlife and Calvin Klein are perfectly suited,” said a spokesman for the American design company. “The band love wearing stylish clothes and have always been fashionable.” The ad campaign will be reportedly be shot by a top fashion photographer.

The Irish quintet – Kian Egan, Bryan McFadden, Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne and Mark Feehily – aren’t the first musicians to pose for Calvin Klein. Mark Wahlberg, née Marky Mark, made a splash in the early Nineties with a series of provocative ads. R&B diva Macy Gray, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes of TLC and alt-rocker Liz Phair have all featured in promotions for the popular designer.

The Celtic heart-throbs are about to jet off to South America for a promotional tour but are due back in the UK before the September 6 birth of Bryan’s first child.
