Little Britain star Matt Lucas has been offering his support to the partner of late musician Stephen Gately.

The 35-year-old comedian has paid visits to Andrew Cowles at his London home, and the pair reportedly shared dinner together earlier this week.

Matt is likely to be a great source of comfort to Andrew since both are mourning the loss of a loved one.

Just a few weeks ago, his ex-husband Kevin McGee was found dead in his home, prompting friends including David Walliams to rally round.

"It has been devastating for both," a source said. "I suppose Matt has been through a lot in recent weeks and felt he could help."

The popular London-born actor is not the only one who has been offering his help.

Elton John and his partner David Furnish – the pair who introduced Andrew to Stephen – have also been keeping in touch since the tragic passing of the Boyzone star.
