The West End debut of Billy Elliot: The Musical brought out the crème de la crème of British celebs, including one of the UK's most famous former couples.
Actor Hugh Grant and Austin Powers star Liz Hurley, who ended their 14-year relationship in 2000, were both in attendance at the star-studded opening night – each bringing their respective new partners to the gala.
While Liz and her beau, businessman Arun Nayar, stopped on the red carpet to strike a pose for throngs of photographers, Hugh's girlfriend of nearly a year, Jemima Khan, stepped out of a sleek silver car with her Hollywood star boyfriend trailing far behind.
The foursome joined another high profile pair, music legend Elton John and partner David Furnish, at the critically-acclaimed show, which is based on hit film Billy Elliot. "I feel ecstatic, I feel relieved, I feel a sense of pride," said Elton, who wrote the music for the tale of a miner's young son who loves to dance. "I'm so proud to have been a part of it." |
