Nicole Kidman may have been wearing midnight-blue velvet for her latest red carpet outing, but she left fans in little doubt that pink was her favourite colour. The 37-year-old, who jetted into London for the UK premiere of The Interpreter, made sure everyone got a good look at the pink wristband she was wearing to raise awareness of breast cancer.
The Oscar winner, whose mother overcame the disease, was keen to show her backing for charities working to combat the illness. And her choice of a dark Azaro coatdress served to make the brightly-coloured band all the more noticeable.
But it wasn't only the plastic accessory that was catching onlookers' attention; the actress herself was also looking radiant. Having treated herself to full day of pampering at the Dorchester Hotel – including a manicure, facial, pedicure and full seaweed body wrap - Nicole was looking her best at the Leicester Square screening.
In the flick she plays an interpreter who accidentally overhears an assassination plot while working at the United Nations. The tense thriller, which also features her fellow Oscar winner Sean Penn, was the first movie to be filmed inside the UN headquarters.
Director Sydney Pollack was also on hand, along with Texan model Jerry Hall. Neither managed to create quite as big a stir as their fellow American Lisa B, however. The New York beauty, who played Hugh Grant's nasty girlfriend in Bridget Jones' Diary, is seven months pregnant with property developer husband Anthony Bilton's child. And photographers gathered outside the event were delighted to hear she has applied to become a British citizen. "The process takes six weeks and then I'll be pledging allegiance to the Queen," she explained. "This is where my husband is and this is where I call home." |
