Styling advice: Give straightened hair a bit of oomph

25 NOVEMBER 2008

If you have straight hair and like the glossy, smooth effect created by using straighteners on top, you'll also be aware how it can leave hair overly flat at the roots and looking lank. The solution's simple – start using your irons a couple of inches away from the scalp instead of right at the roots. It won't work if your hair's curly, but curls tend to be thicker than naturally straight hair so shouldn't need the lift.
