Having already proven her mettle as a model, human rights campaigner and talk show host, Heather Mills is now turning her attention to acting. Sir Paul McCartney's wife will soon be showing off her thespian talents after landing a minor role in the popular American soap opera Days Of Our Lives.

Her part shouldn't require too much research, though: the 37-year-old already has a great deal in common with her character. Heather, who is well-known for her work with landmines victims, will appear as a counsellor for people who have lost limbs. She will offer some words of wisdom to a wounded soldier who finds himself facing the biggest challenge of his life after returning from combat with serious injuries.

The pretty blonde, who lost her leg in 1993 when she was hit by a police motorcycle, has spent over a decade campaigning to help amputees in poor countries. And no-one has been more impressed by her efforts than her rock star husband, who has penned a new song in tribute to her.

Hometown Papers, which will feature on Sir Paul's latest album, criticises newspapers that have tried to portray his wife in a negative light. The song includes the lyrics: "They said she was a gold digger, they said I was a fool, they said I was rich and crazy and she was beautiful but crude."
