21 JULY 2004
Hot days, steamy nights
The action is round-the-clock, but if you want
to know what’s what and who’s who, start with
the News Café on Ocean Drive – and while
you’re there, why not try the garlic pasta?
Retail therapy addicts can feed their addiction
along the eight-block pedestrian Lincoln Road
Mall. The main shopping drag, it’s wall-to-wall
designer labels – a kind of Greenwich Village in
the tropics – with new boutiques popping up
daily, selling the funky and outrageous.
When it comes to clubbing, SoBe is open to
everyone, with straights going to gay clubs and
vice versa. Current hot spots include Mynt and
Nikki Beach, both with bars and restaurants, as
well as Skybar, Opium and BED (Beverage,
Entertainment and Dining). If you’ve had a
heavy night, eat your way out of it with a
Cuban breakfast of black beans and conch
fritters at one of the sidestreet Latin hangouts.
