A Scottish father has shared a video of the moment he discussed the possibility of future boyfriends with his feisty four-year-old daughter. John Tierney, from Blantyre, uploaded a clip of his recent conversation with little Grace online, and it has become a big hit with viewers and fellow fathers praising his 'direct' parenting skills.
The footage, which is shot in the family car, shows John telling Grace he is not going to let her have a boyfriend, to which she replies: "But, what if I want to get a boyfriend?"
John Tierney's video with daughter Grace has gone viral
"Daddy will break his legs," John jokes. "And guess what will happen after that? See your boyfriend's Daddy? Daddy will take him hostage and keep him in a cupboard."
Angered, Grace replies: "No, listen. I want a boyfriend. I’m getting a boyfriend."
"You're not getting a boyfriend, you're going to be a nun," John tells her, while struggling not to laugh. "You're going to work for Jesus. This is who you work for," he says, pulling out his crucifix necklace. "End of story."
John, 37, said that the conversation started when Grace waved at two boys who were walking past the car. He told the Metro: "I joked that she should stop waving at boys because they were smelly, and she then told me she wanted a boyfriend.
"I started recording her responses because she is such a wee character – she is very much a sponge and absorbs everything that people say.
"The video has gone a bit mental – we got stopped in the supermarket yesterday by someone who had seen it. I never expected it to go this mad."
