Get the look straight from the catwalks at London Fashion Week

We’re loving this look from superstar stylist Sam McKnight, global ambassador for Pantene Pro-V and session hairdresser extraordinaire.

It’s what he’s calling the Indian Princess Pin-up, inspired by the days of the Raj with its elegance and simplicity, swept back to create a clean front but with a slightly messy shape at the back for a sense of only casual grooming.

Sam created the updo for the Graeme Black show at London Fashion Week and he’s shared with us his steps for recreating the look at home…

Work mousse through the hair from root to tip and dry roughly.

Set into large, loose waves using large barrelled curling tongs.

Brush the hair into a clean ponytail high on the crown of the head.

Smooth down the hair from the hairline to the ponytail band by brushing over.

Then backcomb sections of ponytail close to the base of each section to add volume.

Brush over the surface of the ponytail to lightly smooth then loop up the ends and pin to secure into a volumised, loose bun.

To create Sam's signature 'done, undone' effect, leave some stray tendrils loose.

Add a spritz of hairspray to hold the look.

Sam used Pantene Pro-V Volume & Body Magnifying Hairspray, £2.99, to finish the look but says it’s important to care for hair to ensure it can withstand damaging styling techniques such as tonging and backcombing by using good-quality haircare products regularly.

He recommends Pantene’s new Pro-V Repair & Protect Conditioner, £2.19, an intensive treatment to protect and nourish.

“The key to the look I created for the Graeme Black show is having hair that is shiny and manageable to give the appearance of elegance whilst still looking undone,” he points out.

“But styling can take its toll on hair – so if you want to make the most of this look you need to shampoo and condition your hair from root to tip to help combat damage.”
