Nails hands and feet: Shape nails without splitting

13 MAY 2008

Talon-like nails haven't really been fashionable since the days of Dallas and Dynasty, but if yours are healthy enough to require regular cutting back to keep them looking coolly trim, use clippers instead of scissors which bend the nail upwards before slicing straight across, causing splits down the sides of the nail and flaking across the top. Then file into shape, with single strokes going in one direction rather than a see-saw action that can also cause flaking.
