Skincare: Moisturiser for money savers

02 DECEMBER 2008

If the credit crunch is causing you to pull in the purse strings and you want to save on brand-name moisturisers, buy aqueous cream instead – the most basic form of moisturiser that forms a barrier over skin to keep water in. It's available from any pharmacy and just a few pounds will buy enough to last you for months – or weeks if you use it on your body, too. If your complexion's oily, try just a small amount first; it may clog the skin and lead to a build up of sebum that could cause more spots. It shouldn't happen on other skin types, though. And use vitamin E oil from health food shops when your skin needs an intensive boost.
