Nails, hands and feet tip: Protect nails from staining

02 DECEMBER 2008

Here at hellomagazine.com's Beauty channel, we love dramatic nail colours and wear dark or bright polish all the time. Yet we never have yellowing nails – usually caused by pigments in the polishes staining the natural nail plate. And that's because we never ever forget to use a base coat first. If you need to do your nails for a night out, but don't have any base coat to hand, apply clear polish instead. It may not help the coloured polish 'stick' as well as a proper base coat, but will at least form a barrier against staining.
