Britain’s best loved couple are back on our screens after a four-month break. But while fans of Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan have been counting the hours until they return to primetime TV, their children are not joining in the celebrations.
Judy reveals that Jack, 15, and 14-year-old Chloe are unhappy about their parents’ new late-afternoon show on Channel 4. “They’re a bit outraged at the moment because they’re just not used to the changes,” she says. “We’ve always been there in the early evenings. But now they have to look after themselves a bit more. They’re trying to make us feel a bit like we’re neglecting them - and they’re a bit put out.”
Despite their passion for the job, Richard and Judy are adament that if it ever affects their marriage they will give it up: “We’ve always been absolutely clear our marriage is more important than anything, just like the kids are more important than the job. We’ve never had any problems. We just make sure we do everything split down the middle. And we’re both just as assertive as the other.”
Since finishing on This Morning, the couple have enjoyed a break, spending the past four months enjoying life with the children, including six weeks on holiday touring Florida and California.
