Wellbeing: Get your beauty sleep – for your health's sake

Sleeping for less than six hours a night can increases the chance of high cholesterol, increased blood pressure and obesity – together called the metabolic syndrome - according to a study from the University of Pittsburgh in the US. More than 1,200 adults between the ages of 30 and 54 were examined and it was found that those who slept between seven and eight hours a night were 45 per cent less likely to suffer from metabolic syndrome than those who slept less than six.
