Hair removal: Shaving myth gets the cut

Hair does not grow back thicker after shaving, as is commonly believed. "It's a physical impossibility," says Will King of King of Shaves, because cutting a hair at the surface can't affect what it's doing at the root. "It just seems as if it's coarser because you've taken away the soft, thin ends to leave only the thickest part of the hair and the cut leaves a short, sharp edge that feels wiry and sticks out so it looks more substantial."
