The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have arrived in Belize for the first day of their royal tour of the Caribbean which will take them to countries like Jamaica and the Bahamas to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

As they stepped off the plane, Kate looked beautiful in an all-blue ensemble, while William looked very dapper in a grey suit.

The pair arrived at 3pm local time to begin their eight-day tour. They appeared to look relaxed at the end of their 11-hour flight.

During their trip, the royal couple visit historic Mayan sites and celebrate the rich culture of the Garifuna community in Belize, as well as explore the country's biodiversity.

In Jamaica, they will engage with the Jamaican Defence Force and celebrate the legacy of Bob Marley and other ground-breaking Jamaican musicians alongside potential stars of the future.

Meanwhile, in the Bahamas, the couple will visit a number of islands and experience a world famous junkanoo parade.

The trip has already been thrown a bit into disarray, as their plan to tour a cacao farm in Indian Creek village on their first full day was called off after a backlash from local residents.

The royals were greeted by governor-general Froyla Tzalam before they travelled to Belize City to meet with prime minister Johnny Briceno.

A Kensington Palace spokeswoman said the couple were "very much looking forward to visiting the Caribbean region" and to getting the opportunity to thank communities across Belize, Jamaica and the Bahamas for the support they had shown the Queen.
