ROYAL LATEST RECAP: Prince Harry's judge steps down amid court case and Princess Beatrice celebrates major anniversary

Good morning and welcome to Thursday's live blog.

Today is a day of celebrations for the royals. Not only is Queen Camilla celebrating her 78th birthday, and you can see a new stunning portrait of the Queen released for the occasion here, but Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are marking their fifth anniversary.

The couple had an unconvential royal wedding as theirs was held under lockdown rules and so had a very slimmed down guest list.

While Camilla, Beatrice and Edo are celebrating, Princess Anne continues to show why she's the hardest-working royal. The royal is set to present The King's Award for Voluntary Service to the Wellingborough District Hindu Association, open Hankook's new facilities in Daventry, before heading down to London to visit a new season training session and attend a reception at the Kings House Sports Ground. And finally, she will attend a dinner at Windsor Castle to mark the 25th anniversary of Racing Welfare. Phew!

While Princess Anne has a busy day today, the Princess Royal carried out plenty of engagements on Wednesday as well. One of which saw the royal receive an honourary doctorate from the University of Huddersfield.

The Princess of Wales is normally flawless whenever she heads out, but in 2023, she suffered quite the fashion blunder. And she's made sure to never repeat the mistake again. Get the full story here!

The Princess of Wales made a memorable appearance at this year's Wimbledon, with one over-excited fan shouting out: "I love you," as she arrived. Cancer survivor Jim Sichko, 58, was the fan in question and he's now opened up about why he called out. Read his words here!

Princess Anne, 74, made a notable sartorial appearance at the Household Division Musical Spectacular 2025 yesterday.

Now, we're giving you the lowdown on her fabulous outfit.

She donned a flattering, silky midnight blue wrap dress with a subtle paisley print, long sleeves, and a ruffled skirt. 

Her elegant accessories included navy bow-adorned slip-on heels and a triple string of pearls. The standout piece was her sapphire and diamond cluster brooch, a copy of one given to Queen Victoria by Prince Albert for their wedding. 

Victoria herself praised the original brooch in her diary, calling it "really quite beautiful."

Amid Britain's formidable heatwave during Sunday's Wimbledon 2025 final, 10-year-old Princess Charlotte showed a subtle yet touching act of kindness towards her mother, the Princess of Wales. Seated in the Royal Box, Charlotte used her branded Wimbledon fan to gently cool Kate, who was battling the direct sun.

"Princess Charlotte fanning her mum at Wimbledon is such a lovely glimpse of her growing empathy and kindness," Sophie David, early years expert, author of Read, Write, Play, and founder of Little Happy Learners, told HELLO!.

"Especially after Kate’s recent illness, it shows how children often pick up on how their parents are feeling and love to care for them in small but meaningful ways."

Over in Spain, King Felipe of Spain and his wife, Queen Letizia, have attended the annual meeting with the Princess of Asturias Foundation board members at the El Pardo Palace in Madrid.

 These boards, composed of around twenty prominent individuals, are responsible for establishing activities, approving budgets, and setting operational criteria.

The meeting commenced with greetings from King Felipe and opening remarks from Ana Isabel Fernández, President of the Foundation, followed by a video showcasing the Foundation's key activities. 

Attendees included the President of the Principality of Asturias, Adrián Barbón.

While attending the annual meeting with the Princess of Asturias Foundation board members at the El Pardo Palace, Queen Letizia rocked a fabulous outfit.

Letizia opted for a white mini dress with a printed square design. The dress also featured a belted waistline and pleated skirt.

It was paired with black kitten heels and a pair of simple drop earrings. The Spanish royal wore her brunette tresses straight and opted for a minimal makeup look featuring bronzed cheeks and a glossy lip. 

Back in the UK, King Charles has opened The Gardens House, a scenic cottage on the Sandringham Estate, for public rental. 

Formerly home to the head gardener, the property is now available through Oliver's Travels, offering a unique royal experience. 

The cottage features an outdoor dining area, a king-sized bed, and "farmhouse chic" interiors. 

Sandringham will be temporarily closed from 20 to 29 July, though the restaurant, shop, and parkland will remain open.

Can we talk about Queen Camilla's birthday dress? 

We are obsessed with animal print for the summer, but the Queen gave it a regal twist in her birthday portrait today, sporting a tropical rainforest-inspired number by Anna Valentine.

She was seen wearing a patterned dress featuring various animals like lemurs, toucans, and monkeys. Her accessories include gold drop earrings, a gold bracelet, a gold ring with circular plaques on her pinky finger, her wedding band, and her five-carat emerald-cut diamond engagement ring.

Senior Costs Judge Jason Rowley has withdrawn from the proceedings to determine the legal costs in the Duke of Sussex's case against Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN). 

Judge Rowley confirmed on Thursday that he was recusing himself from the hearing, which was convened to decide how much of Prince Harry's legal expenses MGN would cover following his successful lawsuit in December 2023.

Judge Rowley explained his decision, stating he felt it was necessary after reviewing the case documents more thoroughly. He revealed that prior to becoming a costs judge, he had worked for Temple Legal Protection for ten months, where he had designed a specific policy relevant to approximately 40% of the costs in this particular case.  

Congratulations are in order for Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, who celebrate their wedding anniversary today!

Property developer Edoardo took to Instagram to share a personal photo from his and Beatrice's private trip to Scotland.

"Happy 5th Anniversary to my incredible partner, the most beautiful and amazing wife," he wrote. 

"I cherish every moment we’ve spent together and am deeply grateful for our journey. Here’s to countless more years filled with laughter and tons of love!"

Beatrice donned khaki running trainers, jeans, and a shacket while her beau went barefoot and rocked a flat cap.

Camilla is 78 today, and looking younger than ever!

Queen Camilla showcased a noticeably refreshed look during her Wednesday outing in Plymouth, sporting darker, more dramatic, and perfectly shaped eyebrows. 

his transformation suggests she's undergone microblading, a semi-permanent tattooing procedure that fills in sparse areas, creating the appearance of fuller brows.

"While I cannot confirm with certainty whether Queen Camilla has recently undergone a permanent makeup procedure, to the trained eye it does appear that she may have had a machine-based method of eyebrow tattooing," says Karen Betts, a renowned authority in permanent makeup treatments and founder of Karen Betts Professional. The Prince and Princess of Wales have sent a message to Queen Camilla on her birthday.

'Happy Birthday to Her Majesty," the message on William and Kate's public Instagram story read.

It comes after the couple attended the State Banquet with Queen Camilla and King Charles earlier this month to mark the French State Visit. During a rare moment of public affection,  Prince William was observed kissing Queen Camilla on the cheek.

Soon after President Macron arrived, Prince William carefully avoiding her striking emerald-green Philip Treacy hat while in his smart navy suit."

As King Charles and Prince Harry reportedly work towards reconciliation, royal observers hope for a similar outcome between the Duke of Sussex and his brother, Prince William.

While some, like royal author Robert Jobson, believe the brothers' lives are now "worlds apart," others recall Prince William's historical willingness to support his younger brother. 

Social media comments highlight this, with one observer stating, "Prince William has always been the bigger man, in every situation, for his entire life," and another adding, "William has always been the bigger person and the appeaser." This prompts a look back at recent instances where Prince William adjusted his plans to support his brother.

While Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi celebrate their wedding anniversary behind closed doors, we're taking a look at their farmhouse lifestyle.

In 2021, the couple and their family settled into a £3 million farmhouse in the Cotswolds countryside. 

The property is perfectly suited for their children—Sienna, three, baby Athena, and Edoardo's son, Wolfie—boasting sprawling gardens, a swimming pool, tennis courts, and ample bedrooms. 

With Edoardo's expertise as a luxury architect and interior designer, it's no surprise the home's interior, including its reception rooms and spacious kitchen, is likely stunning, beautifully reflecting their family's strong bond.

We are loving Beatrice's super casual look from the photo posted online by her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary.

The princess looked cool in ripped skinny jeans with elasticated cuffs, an oversized black shirt, and khaki trainers. 

She also wore no makeup - a rare sight for a royal!  Juan Lopez, Founder and Medical Director at SkinMedico, says that SPF is the key to avoiding premature ageing for a radiant look like Beatrice's.

King Charles has been keeping busy on his wife's birthday as he welcomed a visitor into Windsor Castle.

This morning, the President of the Republic of Maldives arrived at the royal castle. Charles was all smiles as he met with Mohamed Muizzu. Their meeting comes days ahead of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United Kingdom and the Maldives. 

The President and His Majesty discussed ways to further strengthen the ties between their two nations.

Me? I love a niche British weather story, like this one today that reveals that even the King and Queen are not exempt from Thames Water's new hosepipe ban, which is set to come into play across Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Wiltshire.

Charles and Camilla have homes in both Gloucestershire (Highgrove Estate) and Wiltshire (Queen Camilla's pre-royal residence, Ray Mill House).

South East Water will also have hosepipe bans across Kent and Sussex.
