Is Prince Andrew's fall from grace 'the worst crisis in living memory' for the royal family?
Royal biographer Andrew Lownie, author of Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, has described Prince Andrew's fall from grace as "the worst crisis in living memory" for the British royal family.
In this week's bonus episode of A Right Royal Podcast, the author says that while the controversy surrounding the King’s brother does not eclipse the abdication of Edward VIII, it remains "the worst crisis in living memory."
"I really feel there's collateral damage being done to the monarchy, and they’ve been too slow to realise what's actually going on," Andrew said. "They need to get ahead of the news agenda rather than play catch-up."
Collapse of Prince Andrew's business deal could mean future at Royal Lodge is uncertain
Prince Andrew could face eviction from his home, Royal Lodge, after the collapse of a business deal that was intended to provide a financial lifeline, a report reveals.
After the King cut off his brother financially last year, Andrew was said to have had a number of private investments, including income through a commercial partnership with Dutch company StartUpBootCamp (SBC). However, sources confirmed to The Telegraph on Tuesday that this deal is now "dead in the water".

Princess Anne has a stacked diary today, making visits all across the country and ending the evening in Edinburgh. We'll soon bring you updates from these engagements, but in the meantime, we're taking a closer look at her fashion from yesterday.
The Princess Royal first visited Derby to mark the 70th anniversary of the Leylands Estate, a 10-acre gated community for retired retail workers, which was opened by her late mother in 1955. She then travelled to London to pay the new New Scotland Yard Crime Museum a visit.
She was seen wearing a cropped red jacket, which hasn't left her wardrobe since 2022... see the jacket and read more about the details here.

Princess Kate's Greek goddess gown
Why not kick the afternoon off with a throwback? The Princess of Wales always looks phenomenal, but now and then she'll pull out a formal gown that really stops us fashion fans in our tracks.
We've taken a trip down memory lane and rediscovered the seriously stunning outfit Kate wore back in 2011, when the wife of Prince William attended an event in support of the In Kind Direct charity at Clarence House. For the occasion, a super bronzed Kate debuted an incredible Greek goddess-style gown featuring crossover cut-outs on the bustier with a high embellished waistband. Dreamy!
Date night
Princess Margaret's son, David Armstrong-Jones, enjoyed a glitzy date night with his partner, Isabelle de La Bruyère, at the inaugural amfAR gala in London last Friday. While the Earl of Snowdon, 63, donned a black tuxedo for the soiree, art advisor and consultant Isabelle, 54, wowed in a gold lamé dress with a matching bag and high heels for the fundraiser. The outing is the latest for the couple who began dating last summer.
Tom Parker Bowles teams up with a football legend
Queen Camilla's son, Tom Parker Bowles, appears alongside Sir David Beckham as the former England captain, 50, joined Country Life magazine to guest edit a one-off edition published on Wednesday. Food writer and author Tom, 50, joined the former footballer to prepare the ingredients of David's favourite dish in the kitchens at Claridge's before eating together.
Spoiler alert: It's pie and mash! And anyone who follows Becks knows how much he adores the classic London meal. "It's one of those British comfort classics that my mum used to make for me, and was also my grandad's favourite dish," said David. "It was also always a treat going down to the pie and mash shop in Chapel Market. If I had to choose my last meal, it would be pie, mash, liquor and jellied eels."

Good morning
Good morning, royal fans!
I'm here to take you through a morning of royal news. Stay tuned...
The future of Prince Andrew's royal title
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor relinquished use of his titles last week, but the controversy continues to circle the King's brother, with York Central MP Rachael Maskell having set out legislation which would grant King Charles the power to remove titles.
The proposed new law would give the monarch the power to remove titles on his own initiative, following a recommendation of a joint committee of Parliament, or at the request of the person who holds the title.
Ms Maskell said: "It is time for Parliament to act so that it can, or the monarch can, remove titles. The Duke of York title may no longer be being used by its holder, but it has not been removed. My short Bill, The Removal of Titles Bill, will fix this; I hope it can now be supported by Parliament."
Princess of Wales' standout pregnancy gown
While we wait for a day of royal outings to commence, we're taking a look back at the Princess of Wales' most standout pregnancy dress.
In October 2014, the then-Duchess of Cambridge, now 43, stepped boldly outside her usual style for an evening event—and the result was stunning. Kate attended the Action on Addiction autumn gala at London's L'Anima restaurant, an organisation she's been a patron of since 2012, which helps people struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.
The event was particularly noteworthy as it came just one month after Kensington Palace announced her second pregnancy, which was with her daughter Princess Charlotte. Kate opted for a daring Temperley black mini dress. This look featured an above-the-knee hemline, a low scooped back, and cut-outs on the arms and skirt, all paired with her black platformed Jimmy Choo heels from that era.
King Charles arrives
King Charles and Queen Camilla have arrived at San Damaso courtyard for a meeting with Pope Leo IV in the Vatican.
The Queen was seen wearing a black dress with a veil-adorned headpiece. The state visit will send powerful symbols of reconciliation between the Catholic Church and the Church of England.

Swiss Guards prepare for King Charles
The Swiss Guard has been spotted out in Vatican City to mark King Charles and Queen Camilla's visit.
During the trip, the royal couple will meet Pope Leo XIV for the first time since he was elected in May 2025. The King and Queen will join the Catholic Church's 2025 Jubilee Year celebrations, where the heads of the Catholic Church and Church of England will pray together, the first time the British monarch and pontiff have done so at a church service since the English Reformation.
MPs call for conduct of Prince Andrew to be discussed in Parliament
MPs are pressing for the conduct of members of the royal family to be debated in the Commons, the Speaker said, as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor faces fresh scrutiny over his connection to the late convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.
Speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, said there had been "inaccurate" commentary on whether MPs are able to discuss Prince Andrew in Parliament. He added: "There are ways for the House to properly consider this matter."
In a statement, Sir Lindsay said: "Any discussions about the conduct or reflections on members of the royal family can be properly discussed on the substantive motions. And I know some members have already tabled such a motion. I am not able to allocate time for a debate on such a motion, but others are able to do so, if wishing to do that.
"But on questions, the long-standing practice of the House, as set out in Erskine May, is that criticism of members of the royal family cannot be made as part of questions. I hope this is helpful clarification, as there is lots of online speculation."
King Charles
King Charles was all smiles as he met with Pope Leo.
The meeting took place at an audience at the Apostolic Palace in Vatican City, Vatican on this historic occasion as it marks the first time the royal couple has met the Pope since he was elected in May 2025.
A warm greeting from Pope Leo
Inside the Apostolic Chapel, King Charles and Queen Camilla were led in procession to the library for their audience with the Pontiff.
"Your holiness, it's such a pleasure to meet you, if I may say so," Charles was heard saying to the Pope.
"Good morning, welcome," the Pope replied, with Camilla adding: "Lovely to be here."
Posing for photographs, the monarch joked: "Constant hazard, the camera", to which Pope Leo replied: "You get used to it."
Special gifts are exchanged
King Charles and Pope Leo have exchanged gifts during their meeting this morning, HELLO!'s Royal Editor, Emily Nash, who is on the trip with the royal couple, confirms.
The King told his host: "You are so kind to see us," before presenting him with a silver-framed photograph of himself and Queen Camilla, and an Icon of St Edward the Confessor, the 11th-century British King, who is the patron saint of Kings and difficult marriages.
"It comes as a small token of my esteem and appreciation." In return, Pope Leo gave the King a scale version of the mosaic of Christ Pantocrator, located in the Norman Cathedral of Cefalu, Sicily.
King Charles' home glow-up
Before King Charles steps out for his Vatican visit today, we're taking a look at the country estate he calls home - Highgrove House.
Highgrove's grounds hold special significance for the King. A small, secret chapel within the estate serves as a private spot for quiet contemplation. As royal author Robert Hardman noted in his book, the monarch sees this tiny chapel as his "sanctuary", a place he likes to retreat to "in good times and bad... to gather his thoughts."
For example, following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, the King sought solace at his Gloucestershire retreat, likely using this private space for personal contemplation.
