What's on the royal agenda today?

Royal fans can look forward to a busy day ahead as the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh step out for a joint engagement in Merseyside, where they'll attend a performance at the Shakespeare North Playhouse, and visit the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service Training and Development Academy, as well as St. Helens Carers Centre Clubhouse.

Meanwhile, Princess Anne will be heading to Dorset to visit Dorset Police Headquarters and Memorial Garden, and the Boat Building Academy.

Meghan Markle's surprise Paris outing

The Duchess of Sussex made a surprise return to Europe over the weekend as she stepped out at Paris Fashion Week. Meghan was seen attending the Balenciaga fashion show and dinner in an elegant Balenciaga black midi dress with an asymmetrical front panel. Earlier in the day, Meghan made her 2025 Paris Fashion Week debut in a dramatic all-white ensemble.

Prince William's 'encouraging' gesture to wife Princess Kate

In a new interview, Dame Mary Berry commented on the special relationship between Prince William and Princess Kate. Sharing her admiration for the Prince of Wales, The Great British Bake Off star told the Daily Mail: "I mean he's really such a wonderful man, you know. We're so lucky with our royalty, aren't we? He slept on the streets, you know. He wants to find out about how everybody is in the country. He lives for all of us. I admire him. He sets an example."

Commenting on the Prince and Princess of Wales's loving relationship, Mary added: "There's always a little arm around the back, encouraging her. Early on when she started doing public life, he would chip in and say something really nice and encouraging, you know? He's obviously immensely proud of her. They give us – well, they give their life to all of us."

Prince William's under-the-radar outing

Did you know that Prince William made an under-the-radar outing in Cardiff last month? In his role as president of BAFTA, the Prince of Wales visited Bad Wolf Studios in Cardiff to mark its tenth anniversary. William toured the sets of Doctor Who and the highly anticipated upcoming BBC drama, The Other Bennet Sister, at the studio, which is home to popular shows such as His Dark Materials.

Sad news for Queen Camilla as friend Jilly Cooper dies

Author Dame Jilly Cooper has died. The bestselling novelist, who was a friend of Queen Camilla's, died on Sunday morning, after a fall, at the age of 88.

The best-selling author was renowned for her "bonkbuster" style books. 

Her children, Felix and Emily, said: "Mum was the shining light in all of our lives. Her love for all of her family and friends knew no bounds.

"Her unexpected death has come as a complete shock. We are so proud of everything she achieved in her life and can't begin to imagine life without her infectious smile and laughter all around us."

Prince William and Princess Kate's family pub quiz team

The Prince and Princess of Wales have reportedly set up their own family pub quiz time. According to The Sun, Prince William and Kate, both 43, along with their eldest children, Prince George, 12, and Princess Charlotte, ten, regularly take part in a weekly quiz in a pub near one of their royal homes.

One fellow pub-quiz rival told the newspaper: "The quiz is actually very tricky but also a lot of fun. My lips are sealed on whether ‘Team Wales’ has ever won first prize."

In case you missed it...

Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg was pictured for the first time since his ascension over the weekend. Guillaume was spotted alongside his wife, Grand Duchess Stéphanie of Luxembourg, as he attended the Te Deum, i.e. the thanksgiving mass. The pair were joined by Guillaume's parents, Henri and Maria Teresa, as they arrived at the Cathedral Notre-Dame of Luxembourg.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia's special visit

After this weekend 's abdication of Henri of Luxembourg, which was attended by a plethora of Europe's royals, another royal gathering will take place this Tuesday. 

King Felipe and Queen Letizia, who did not attend the abdication, will be in Belgium tomorrow to meet with Queen Felipe and Queen Mathilde on a very short trip. Highlighting the celebration of Spanish culture in Belgium, the king and queen will sit with the Belgian royals for a private lunch and then will head to the Palace of Fine Arts in Brussels to see the "Light and Shadow: Goya and Spanish Realism" exhibit. They will also attend the opening ceremony of the Europalia España festival.

A royal honour for Princess Caroline and Princess Stéphanie

This morning, in the illustrious Hall of Mirrors at the Prince's Palace, Prince Albert and H.E. Mr Jean d'Haussonville, French Ambassador to Monaco, presented two high French distinctions for Princess Caroline and Princess Stéphanie with new elevated ranks.

Princess Caroline was elevated to the rank of Grand Cross in the National Order of Merit, meanwhile, Princess Stéphanie was made an Officer in the National Order of the Legion of Honour.

Royal TV drama claims Queen Maxima had cold feet before wedding to King Willem-Alexander

Beloved author Dame Jilly Cooper's cause of death revealed

Famed author Dame Jilly Cooper, who was best known for her bestselling Rutshire Chronicles novels, and was a friend to Queen Camilla, sadly died aged 88 on Sunday 5 October. 

The writer, who was best known for her 'bonkbusters' including the sensationally popular Rivals, died unexpectedly on Sunday morning after a fall. Her two children, Felix and Emily, said in their statement that their mother's accident and passing had come as a “complete shock”.

King Charles' Christmas plans
