Summer Food Festivals In the UK we’ve got an astounding number of fantastic food fests. Some celebrate a single product - the Rye Bay Scallop Festival for example - and others like Taste of London champion the capital's best restaurants and producers. Here’s our pick of the bunch around the country to get your taste-buds going.

Whistable Oyster Festival (24-30 July)

Over 50 food and drink producers gather to sell their wares. Look out for the oyster eating competition where the aim is to eat six oysters and down half a pint of Whistable Brewery Pilsner in the shortest time possible.

Harvest at Jimmy’s (11-12 September) Pig-farming pal of Jamie Oliver, Jimmy Doherty hosts another harvest festival at his farm in Suffolk. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall will be opening up the River Cottage Canteen and Tommy Miers’ Mexican chain Wahaca will be serving up sizzling street food.

Abergavenny Food Festival (18-19 September)

Local producers are joined by others alongside experts from around the country. Food demos, talks and plenty of delicious tucker will be on show as well as live music and comedy.

Vintage at Goodwood (13-15 August)

Tuck into a cream teas while celebrating the eras of the Forties and Eighties. The WI will be on hand to host a largest and most funny shaped vegetable competition so pop along with the prizes from your plot to take part.

Hampshire Food Festival (1-31 July)

Ready-steady-cook style challenges will be taking place at this month-long fest between chefs in the areas; cooking demos will be taking place with celebrity chefs Ed Baines, John Burton Race and Rose Elliot.

Taste of London (17-20 June)

The annual restaurant festival takes place in Regent’s Park. Across the four-day event you will be able to try dishes from some of London’s top restaurants alongside demos from the crème de la crème of the cheffing world – Gary Rhodes, Giorgio Locatelli and Tom Aikens to name but a few.
