Our rumoured Strictly line-up – how accurate were we?
It's finally here – the day Strictly Come Dancing fans have been waiting for.
Later this evening, the BBC will reveal the full line-up of celebrities who will be waltzing, cha-cha-ing and quickstepping their way into our Saturday nights.
Back in June, we couldn't resist playing detective and pulled together a rumoured list of names based on whispers and a few well-placed clues. You can read the full list here.
So the big question is: how accurate were we? Will our sleuthing skills be worthy of a glitterball trophy, or will today's reveal prove we were way off the beat?
Stay tuned to find out…
Who is Strictly's first contestant Harry Aikines-Aryeetey?
With the first Strictly celeb revealed, you might be wondering – who exactly is Harry Aikines-Aryeetey?
Harry is a former Commonwealth sprinter and TV personality, most commonly known for appearing as Nitro in BBC's sports endurance competition series Gladiator.
The 36-year-old made waves early in his career by becoming the first athlete to win gold in both the 100m and 200m events at the 2005 World Youth Championships. In 2005, he was named the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year and the IAAF’s Rising Star of the Year.
Harry then went from strength to strength, representing Team GB at the Rio Olympics in 2016. He won his first bronze medal in the 100m race at the 2014 European Athletics Championships, where he also won gold as part of the GB team in the men's 4 x 100m relay.
Harry went on to win gold four more times – twice at a European level and twice at the Commonwealth Games – and he also captained the British team at the European Team Championships in 2019.
Judging by his impressive athletic career – as well as his time spent on Gladiators – it sounds like Harry could definitely be one to watch in this year's season of Strictly.
Back in February, Harry even teased his dancing skills in a video posted to Instagram.
But will his competitive spirit prove worthy on the ballroom floor? We can't wait to find out…
Who else is set to return to Strictly?
Before the rest of the celeb line-up comes flooding in, here's a recap of who else is set to return to the beloved BBC show.
Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman are set to return as hosts, while Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas will reprise their roles as judges.
Back in July, it was a announced that two new faces will be joining the team of Strictly dancers: Alexis Warr and Julian Caillon.
The new recruits will feature alongside Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Amy Dowden, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Luba Mushtuk, Jowita Przystał, Johannes Radebe, Aljaž Škorjanec, Kai Widdrington, Nancy Xu, Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley, Michelle Tsiakkas and Vito Coppola.
Last week, Gorka Marquez announced he wouldn't be returning to the show, as the dancer has accepted a judging position on Spain's version of the programme. Nevertheless, he reminded fans to "Keep dancing"!
Harry Aikines-Aryeetey says he's 'absolutely buzzing'
Strictly's first official contestant Harry shared his excitement about being the first named star on the slate.
Posting a video to Instagram, Harry said he was "absolutely buzzing", adding: "It's a match made in heaven. I love to dance and it's a dancing show. But I'm a little bit nervous cause I'm about to be judged."
He added: "I did Christmas but that was a bit of fun, and we loved it – now it's game time, and I'm looking forward to it."
He signed the video off with a little note to one particular judge: "Craig, please be nice!"
When will we know the Strictly dance pairings?
With the celebrity announcements underway, it’s hard not to speculate about who will be paired with the roster of professional dancers in the competition.
However, we'll only know the Strictly pairings when the launch show airs in September.
The live shows typically kick off the following week, giving viewers their first chance to see the duos perform together in front of an audience.
The countdown begins now!
When does Strictly Come Dancing 2025 start?
While there have been no official announcements made by the BBC for when we can expect the beloved show to return, it's safe to assume we can expect the new season of Strictly to start sometime around mid-September.
Apart from during Covid in 2020, the show has always premiered midway through the month, and with episodes always hitting screens on a Saturday, Strictly 2025 will most likely return either on the 20 or 27 September.
Again, no official announcements have been made so we can't be sure, but what we do know is that Strictly hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will be back on our TVs, reminding us to "Keep dancing!", sometime next month.
Dani Dyer is dusting off her dancing shoes!
Dani Dyer will be joining this series of Strictly! It was revealed on BBC One that the 29-year-old will be dusting off her dancing shoes shortly. Dani says she's most looking forward to the "princess-like" costumes the show's contestants to get to wear.
Alex Kingston is also joining the cast
Dialling in from her holiday in Italy, Alex Kingston revealed she, too, will be joining the cast. Speaking to the BBC One hosts about joining Strictly, Alex said: "I was excited but now I'm terrified."
She revealed that famous friends (who are also Strictly veterans) hadn't minced their words about how hard the show is, but also how it changed their lives.
Speaking about working with Dani, Alex said: "I'm excited! We're going to meet up relatively soon."
The Doctor Who actress also said, "My hips don't lie," when asked what her signature move was.
Football player Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink will be on this series' dancefloor
Jimmy Floyd will also be taking a spin on the dancefloor! Trading in his studs for dancing shoes, he admitted it's "totally" out of his comfort zone, however, he's nonetheless still excited.
"I'm a father of only girls, Strictly is a part of our home life," the football legend said. "I got into it, I like the show... so, let's have a go."
When asked about his dancing prowess, Jimmy said: "Honestly, I have no idea what to expect. I have a little bit of rhythm." But he did say he's impartial to a waltz.
Just like the football field, Jimmy admitted he'll be competitive on the dancefloor. "I'm going to do my best... otherwise I'm going to get some serious stink at home!"

I’m far too excited to put into words how I feel but I’m incredibly excited at the prospect of dancing across the ballroom!"
Who will join the winner's circle?
