The 3ft 5in writer, lecturer and diversity advocate was declared one of Vogue's 25 most influential women and later became a contributing editor to the magazine.
After meeting the Duchess of Sussex during a royal visit to Ireland, the former schoolteacher appeared on the 15 Forces For Change cover in 2019 and became key in articulating the power of representation and hopes for greater visibility for all disabilities.
That visibility has shaped the hopes and dreams of a younger generation of disabled people who can now see a future for themselves in this creative space.
