Why MEATLiquor should be on your radar for a girls' night

When planning a ladies' night, dinner and cocktails never fails to be a crowd-pleaser: and when you find somewhere that does both, it makes for a fuss-free evening to remember! MEATLiquor is already a firm favourite on foodies' lists thanks to its decadent burgers and fries, and with branches across Bristol, Brighton and London's Soho, Angel and Covent Garden, it's definitely worth a visit no matter where you are in the UK.

Celebrating the end of a very busy awards season, the HELLO! Online team decided to head to MEATLiquor's Angel branch and discover if it lived up to the hype… Finding the restaurant itself has you feeling like you've discovered a hidden cave of foodie treasures! Just off Upper Street, there's a small but noticeable neon sign that guides you down a side street, before you head through a steel door and step into the red lighting: immediately we knew it had the ideal bar/restaurant balance. The staff were so friendly and quickly seated us at one of the long tables and wooden benches.

No ladies' night is complete without a tipple, and MEATLiquor has an extensive menu no matter what you're after. We recommend the decadent Summer of Love which includes Grey Goose citron vodka, fresh lemon juice, red grapes, passion fruit and white wine, or the or the Yorkshire T, a tea-infused gin with pink grapefruit, fresh lemon juice and topped with soda water.

Once the drinks were ordered, it was on to the food – and with an extensive list of starters, we ended up just ordering a few for everyone to share! The food comes out on trays so it's ideal for sharing. We all had to try the famous burgers for mains – and with gluten-free/dairy-free and vegetarian diets amongst the group, we were pleasantly surprised at how much choice there was. There are also mouthwatering beef and chicken burgers - try the Tower Block burger for the ultimate feast - and plenty of sides from cheese fries to onion rings, to jalapeno cheesy bites.

A word of warning: the portions are very generous, and many of us were left feeling stuffed before we'd even got halfway through the meal. When you've finished the food, had a few drinks and decide to head home, make sure to stop off by the photobooth: pick up a few tokens at the bar and it's sure to make for some hilarious memories!
