Things to do this weekend in London: 28 to 30 September

Your weekend plans are sorted!

Happy Friday! There's plenty to do this weekend, from beating the chill with a delicious Sunday roast, to visiting Pergola's latest offering, Pergola Olympia, in west London. Read on for fun things to do in the city...

Hang out at the newly opened Pergola Olympia

Pergola is popping up all around London, and the latest site to open is Olympia in West London. The super fun all-day, drinking and eating space offers mouthwatering dishes from Patty & Bun, CLAW and Passo, plus cocktails from their never-ending, huge open bar. And given its prime location on the rooftop of Olympia London, diners can expect sweeping views across the city. Cheers to that!

Celebrate British Roast Dinner Week

Oh we do love a Sunday Roast, and where better to celebrate British Roast Dinner Week than at The Coal Shed. Known for its mouthwatering cuts of meat and elegant setting, the restaurant boasts a sharing roast which is perfect for two. The showstopper is, of course, the tender cuts of beef and the roast potatoes, but all of the trimmings really complete the meal. The butter-soaked carrots and greens are delicious, but the cauliflower cheese is far too good to share, we're warning you. For those who are into their seafood more, the restaurant is holding a special evening on Saturday 6 October where Head Chef Chris Ditch will teach the art of oyster shucking and fish filleting. Tickets for the intimate supper club, which include an oyster tasting and fish for mains, cost £60pp. The event will be held in the private mezzanine.

A very creative supperclub in Covent Garden

Covent Garden's coffee house and kitchen Abuelo is hosting an exclusive supper club for women within the creative and design industries. Women in Architecture and Associated Arts takes place on Thursday 4 October from 7pm. Hosted by Abuelo's mother and daughter duo Lynette and Cloe De La Vega, the intimate evening will be a chance for ladies to network and have conversations around design, business and women in the industry, over decadent cocktails and sharing plates in the gorgeously relaxed space. Tickets are £45 and include a set shared menu paired with wine and an arrival cocktail.

Have a cocktail at London's newest rooftop bar

Enjoy the sweeping panorama of London's famous landmarks, and overlook the square that's hosted most of the capital's glamorous film premieres while enjoying signature sundowners. There's also a relaxed menu of modern European dishes, including light bites and sharing nibbles for the table.

Head down to The Cliveden Literary Festival

Technically not an event in London, The Cliveden Literary Festival is back for this year and located just a short train ride or drive away from the capital. The themes for this year are politics and scandal, the influence of brilliant women, art and architecture, and espionage amongst other angles - all of which reflect Cliveden's own story as a political and literary salon, a status it's kept into the 21st century. And, of course, Cliveden made headlines earlier this year after a certain royal bride, Meghan Markle, stayed there the night before her big day. The line-up for this year's festival includes Tina Brown, Cherie Blair, June Sarpong, Dame Helena Morrissey and actress Ruth Wilson. Tickets cost £99 per person and can be bought online.

Enjoy cocktails at Madison rooftop bar

This sought after setting offers breathtaking views of the London skyline, DJ entertainment, live music and of course killer cocktails. Enjoy pop ups such as The Broken Shaker, bringing Miami's electric spirit to London next week. The pop up will be equipped with a bespoke drinks menu from The Broken Shaker's very own cocktail connoissuer. Madison will definately be shaken up to celebrate London Cocktail Week in fitting style.
